Learn More About Pelotonics Financial Services
Doug Heckinger
Cofounder
Doug Heckinger learned about "the peloton" (the pack in a bike race like the Tour de France) as a kid, working in his father's bike shop in Palo Alto. California. He entered into financial services about the same time he rode into North Carolina in the 1980s. He noticed that a lot of employers, particularly small and mid-sized ones, weren't taking advantage of the many tax strategies available to them. Sensing turbulence in the health care payment (insurance) sector, he saw an opportunity for a holistic approach that incorporated these two insights. He is definitely a team player with specialists from diverse disciplines: accounting, legal, banking, and HR. "To win a race is a true team effort," he says.
David Boliek
Cofounder
Dave was always the sort of sales professional that cared more about what the company could do for the customer than what the customer could do for the company. It was that way when he ran a JC Penney's in his home state of Virginia, when he designed a series of hospital intake forms for his printing business, and when he sold life insurance and noticed that there was a need in the market for something more. A lot of employers, he found, wanted to provide a suite of benefits for their people, but didn't know the best ways to do it. "I saw a lot of so-called 'executive benefit plans' that weren't really delivering as promised. or were grossly under-performing", he says. "So we built a better mousetrap...with a team."
